Centripetal and Centrifugal Forces.
Centripetal and centrifugal forces are forces that either bring a state together or tears them apart. Centripetal forces bring a country together and bonds people of the state together. Things like a common langauge and religion are prominant centripetal forces. Centrifugal forces are the opposite- they tear a country apart and weaken connections and bonds. Religious and linguistic diversity are common centrifugal forces.
Centripetal and centrifugal forces impact population and migration in the same ways that push and pull factors do. Countries with many centripetal forces will typically have inmigration, while those with many centrifugal forces will have outmigration.
