Population Density.
There are two ways that population density can be counted; using arithmetic or physiological.
Arithmetic
Calculated using the number of people per square unit of land. Island nations and microstates have unusually high arithmetic population densities.
Countries with notably high arithmetic population densities:
Malta - 1,250
Bahrain - 1,053
Maldives - 1,029
Singapore - 7,357
Countries with notably low arithmetic population densities:
Iceland - 3
Canada - 3
Bolivia - 9
Libya - 4
Mongolia - 2
Physiological
Calculated using the number of people per square unit of arable (land used for farming) land. It is limited by overcrowded farms, lack of arable land, or arid regions with narrow farming regions around rivers.
Countries with notably high physiological population densities:
Malta - 3,678
Netherlands Antilles - 2,524
Puerto Rico - 4,899
Bahrain - 11,700
Palestinian Territories - 33,240
United Arab Emirates - 6,027
Maldives - 10,287
Singapore - 367,860
Countries with notably low physiological population densities:
Canada - 66
Kazakistan - 48
Australia - 39
