Push and Pull Factors.

Push and pull factors are factors of a country that attract or repel immigrants or other people from a country.

A push factor is something that makes people want to leave a city, country, or region. Civil wars, a poor economy, a lack of amenities in a city, rebel movements, environmental hazards, high cost of land, unemployment, high crime rates, drought or flooding, and excessive poverty are all typical push factors.

A pull factor is a factor that attracts people to a country, city, or region. Stable governments, good economic activities, high employment rates, higher pay rates, regular paychecks, improved medical care, higher education, entertainment, and easy access to utilities are common pull factors.
